Room Parent Guidelines

Lone Pine room parties include:

  1. Halloween party: no costumes.
  2. Winter (Christmas): gift exchange is at teacherís discretion, keep the price low.
  3. Valentine's Day: all students give valentines to everyone in class, if they give at all.
  4. End-of-year

Things to keep in mind:

  • If the teacher wants to have any party off campus (typically at the end of the year), it must be cleared by the principal.
  • We do not celebrate individual birthdays at school. Please do not bring goodies for birthdays. Our monthly PTO Birthday Table serves this purpose.
  • Please remember that the teacher is still in charge. Clear ALL plans with him/her.
  • Keep in mind that students will be celebrating holidays in other ways, moderation in activities and food is best. The goal is not to outdo other classrooms or grade levels.
  • Craft activities are okay; just keep in mind the amount of time the activity will require.
  • It is okay to collect money ($5 for the year maximum) from students for the parties. Another option is to have students participate by bringing specifically assigned items.
  • Home-baked goods are not allowed (health-department rule).
  • Be cognizant of religious issues. All activities should be religiously neutral. Some students will not be able to participate in celebrations. They should not be embarrassed or pointed out. Let the teacher handle any situations that may arise.
