Year at a glance



September - November


The Band marches at four to six home football games each year and at home play off games. During the North-South Football game half time, the two bands combine to perform a special show. 




All State Concert Band/All Northwest Concert Band (these alternate each year), All-State Jazz Band, and W.I.B.C. auditions are held this month.  Music and audition information are available from Mr. Kessler. 




The Jazz Bands participate in the Medford Jazz Jubilee performing at a student venue in Medford. Homecoming takes place one of the last weekends this month and the Homecoming Noise Parade winds its way through campus on game day.  The concert and jazz bands also present their first concert of the year this month.




The NMHS Jazz Festival is held in the North Auditorium.  Schools from throughout southern Oregon attend.  The University of Oregon Jazz Band and Southern Oregon University Jazz Band are the featured bands at this festival.  Students are notified if they have made All State and the W.I.B.C. Honor Bands.  W.I.B.C. takes place in Seattle.  




A winter concert is given which involves the Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, and the two Jazz Bands. The bands march in the Jacksonville Spirit of Christmas Parade.





The Pep and/or Jazz Bands begin playing at 10-12 home girls and boys basketball games.  In addition the Jazz Bands perform at the University of Oregon/Lane Community College Jazz Festival. All State Honor Band, Jazz Band, clinics and performances are held in Eugene.




The Southern Oregon University Honor Band is held this month at SOU.  Each year All State Honor Band alternates with All Northwest Honor Band.  




The Southern Oregon District Concert Band Festival is held.  The District Solo & Ensemble Festival also takes place in March.  A spring concert is held in our auditorium.




The band marches each year in the Pear Blossom Festival parade.  Band Tour!!  This consists of 3-5 days of competitions, sight seeing, and amusement parks, etc.




Drum Major selections are made.  The State Band Championships are held at Oregon State University.




The final concert of the year is given, and the band performs at the North Medford High graduation ceremony.
