Student Awards and Recognition

Awards provide recognition for students performing acts which are of benefit to their academic and social improvement and to the school's improvement.

The school district is changing the report card for this school year so the criteria for academic awards may be changed as well.

  1. PRINCIPAL AWARDS: These will be used as determined by the principal.
  2. OUTSTANDING CITIZENSHIP AWARD: Students named to this list are exemplary citizens. They are self-managers of their own behavior. They have an excellent attitude; complete their school work in an exceptional fashion; follow the rules; are trustworthy, honest and reliable. They strive to make others feel good, foster a warm and caring school climate and serve as excellent role models for their peers. They have earned all 5's or 6's on their Personal Accountability Report Card, except for Health & Safety which may be a 4.
  3. IMPROVED CITITZENSHIP AWARD: Students are named to this list at the discretion of the teacher and have shown that they care to become more responsible and accountable for their own actions. They have demonstrated positive growth in their attitude, self-control and school work. There is increasing evidence they follow school rules; complete work on time and to the best of their ability; and show respect for self and others in a variety of situations.
  4. PERFECT ATTENDANCE: The Perfect Attendance certificate will be awarded to all students who had perfect attendance for the school year. Students may not have any absences or tardies to receive this award and may not have been checked out early from school.
  5. STUDENT OF THE WEEK: Each Student of the Week will be invited to eat lunch in the cafeteria with the principal.
    • Sometime during the school year, each child at ALE will be selected as "Student of the Week" for recognition in his/her classroom.
    • The process that each teacher chooses to use to recognize students in his/her classroom will reflect our schoolwide behavior system - PBIS.
    • Names will be published weekly in the ALE Newsletter.

PUBLISHING OF NAMES: All students who receive special awards will have their names published in the Lion Tales newsletter.
