Would you like a mentor? Would you like to become a Mentor?

Our goal is to help all students thoughtfully plan for life after high school. Considering the individual needs and plans of students, students and their mentors may work on a variety of activities including:
  • Utilizing online skills and interest assessments
  • Researching careers and vocational opportunities
  • Researching post-secondary education opportunities, including trade & technical schools and 2- and 4-year colleges
  • Completing college applications
  • Applying for scholarships
  • Exploring financial aid options
  • Planning ahead and keeping track of deadlines
Typically, students meet with their mentors from 20-40 minutes once every week or two, depending upon need. In order for meetings to be convenient for all, students will be allowed out of class on a limited basis to meet with mentors. Students are asked to check ahead of time with teachers for a convenient time and are asked not to miss the same class repeatedly. Students and mentors plan meeting times, and all meetings are held in the NMHS College & Career Center.
Mentors may choose to work with one or more students as they feel comfortable, and at times which are convenient for them. Every effort is made to match mentors with students for the most success.
If you are a student who would like to participate, or if you are an adult community member who would like to become an mentor, please contact me.
