BEACON SCHOOL

Jefferson was named a BEACON school in 2007 by State Schools Superintendent Susan Castillo.

Jefferson served as a demonstration site in order to assist other schools by allowing them the opportunity to observe excellent reading systems and instruction during 90 - minute literacy blocks. Jefferson was selected to become a Beacon school because of it's high level of staff commitment and leadership, resulting in consistent improvement in student reading achievement
