Message from Principal, Julie Barry

Welcome back!

Thank you for visiting Ruch Community Schoolís website. You will determine very quickly that our school offers students and their families a unique academic experience not only in the 4 day schedule but the place and community based education it focuses their instruction on.

With this approach to learning and teaching, our teachersí and studentsí attention extends beyond the classroom and makes contact with the community and the natural world around them. It engages them in the process of devising solutions to the social and environmental problems they will confront now and in the future. This distinct curricular approach increases studentsí engagement and enhances their academic achievement.

The success of our many various programs are attributed to the community support that we receive. Art, Science, Music, and Technology, are just a few of the areas where our community has come along side to support our students and staff in a way that goes over and beyond what many other schools receive. Ruch School has many volunteers that aide in the individual and overall success of our school.

Summer is here and students and staff are taking a well-deserved break. It has been a very successful year and we have a lot to celebrate! Many thanks goes out to the Applegate Community for continuing to support our programs and students. Our new playground (purchased with a generous grant from the West Family Foundation) stands proud on campus and welcomes children of all ages. Fitness stations along our Perry Custance Nature Trail provides health and wellness to all who take advantage of the community trail. Our community garden welcomes visitors with a new cob entrance constructed by Coenraad Rogmans with the help of Ruch School students. We celebrated our middle school studentsí completion of 8th grade and canít wait to see what their future holds as they begin their high school career.

Enjoy the summer months with family and friends, read a great book and we will see you in the fall.
Remember, that we are continuing to take transfer requests in and out of the Medford School District attendance area.  You can request a transfer at www.medford.k12.or.us , click on "Students and Staff"and find the link for transfer requests.
