Parent Involvement Policy

The Jackson Elementary School Parent Involvement Policy was developed by the Jackson Site Council, which includes certified staff, classified staff, parents and the administrator.  It has been reviewed and discussed by the parent organization at Jackson.
 
Distribution Information:
 
 
  1. The Parent Involvement Policy for Jackson Elementary School will be posted in the school office. It will also be included in the school handbook, sent to parents via the Jaguar News, and on the Jackson website.  All communication of this policy will be done in both Spanish and English.                   
  2. Information concerning the school, parent meetings or student test results will be sent home in both Spanish and English.
  3. The Teacher-Student-Parent Compact will be sent home by November 30th.  It will outline the responsibilities of each signing member in achieving the goal of helping each student be successful in learning. It is to be signed and the signed portion is to be returned to Jackson.
 
Parent Participation:
 
 
  1. Parents will have the opportunities to participate in school decision-making regarding the education of their children through Open House, Site Council, Parent Nights, and the Individual School Level Team (iSLT).
  2. Any situation that occurs that may prevent parental participation, such as transportation, home language or unreasonable cost, will be addressed based upon individual needs and may be funded by Title I. Childcare will be provided at all parent involvement activities.
  3. Parents will be encouraged to work together with the school staff to develop a Teacher-Student-Parent Compact. The compact will be reviewed yearly.
  4. Parents are encouraged to participate in the parent classes provided at Jackson School.  Including those which focus on learning English, Spanish and/or parenting.
  5. The school will provide conference opportunities, if requested by the parent, to help in making decisions regarding the education of their children.
  6. Parents are encouraged to observe, communicate with teachers, volunteer and help in their child’s classroom.  All such activity will follow District policy.
 
Meetings:
 
 
  1. Parents will be informed at the first Jackson P.T.O. meeting of the school’s participation in the Title I program, the requirements of that program and their right to be involved. Interpreters will be provided if necessary.
  2. Parent review and discussion of the Parent Involvement Policy will take place yearly.
  3. Parent review and discussion of the Teacher-Student-Parent Compact will take place yearly.
  4. Parents will be elected to the Site Council every year and serve a one year term.
  5. Elected parents will review and discuss the current data at site council meetings which will be held at least three times per year to assess student learning and behavior.
  6. Interpreters will be provided for all meetings.

Política de Participación de los Padres

La Política de Participación de los Padres de la escuela primaria Jackson ha sido desarrollada por el Consejo Escolar de Jackson, en el que participan personal certificado, personal de apoyo, padres y el administrador. Ha sido discutida y revisada por la organización de padres de Jackson.
 
Distribución de la información:
           
 
  1. La Política de Participación de los Padres de la escuela primaria Jackson se colocará en la oficina de la escuela. También se incluirá en el manual de la escuela y se mandará a los padres en las Noticias Jaguar, y en el Jackson “website”. Todas las comunicaciones de esta política se harán en ingles y en español.                         
  2. Información sobre la escuela, reuniones de padres o resultados de los exámenes de los estudiantes, se mandará a casa en español y en inglés.
  3. El Contrato entre Maestro-Estudiante-Padres se mandará a las casas para el 30 de noviembre. Éste
  resumirá las responsabilidades de cada miembro firmante para alcanzar la meta de ayudar a cada  
  estudiante a tener éxito en su aprendizaje. Tiene que ser firmado y la parte firmada debe devolverse a la escuela Jackson.
 
Participación de los padres:
 
 
  1. Los padres tendrán la oportunidad de participar en la toma de decisiones sobre la educación de sus hijos a través de “Open House”(Puertas abiertas), “Site Council” (Consejo escolar), Parent night (Noches de padres) y “Individual School Level Team (iSLT)”  (Equipo de nivel de la escuela para individuos).
  2. Cualquier situación que impida la participación de los padres, como  por ejemplo transporte, idioma o costo no razonable, será tenida en cuenta de forma individual y podrá ser financiada por Title I. Se ofrecerá cuidado de niños en todas las actividades en las que participen los padres.
  3. Se animará a los padres a que participen, con el personal de la escuela, en el desarrollo del Contrato entre Maestro-Estudiante-Padres. Éste se revisará anualmente.
  4. Se anima a los padres a que participen en las clases para padres ofrecidas en la escuela Jackson. Inclu-yendo las que se enfocan en aprender inglés, español y/o a ser buenos padres.
  5. La escuela ofrecerá la oportunidad de tener conferencias, si lo solicita un padre, para ayudar a tomar decisiones sobre la educación de su hijo.
  6. Se anima a los padres a que observen, se comuniquen con los maestros, se ofrezcan como voluntarios y ayuden en las clases de sus hijos. Estas actividades seguirán la política del Distrito.
 
Reuniones:
 
 
  1. En la primera reunión del P.T.O. se informará a los padres de la participación de la escuela en el programa Title I, los requisitos del programa y su derecho a participar. Si es necesario se proporcio-narán intérpretes.
  2. Los padres revisarán y hablarán sobre las Normas de Participación de los Padres anualmente.
  3. Los padres revisarán y hablarán sobre el Contrato entre Maestro-Estudiante-Padres anualmente.
  4. Se eligirá a padres para el Consejo escolar cada año, y servirán en él durante un año.
  5. Los padres elegidos revisarán y hablarán sobre los datos actuales en reuniónes del Consejo escolar, que tendrán lugar por lo menos tres veces al año para evaluar el aprendizaje y comportamiento de los estudiantes.
  6. Habrá intérpretes disponibles en todas las reuniones
